WINTERLAB scan super8 & 16mm

WinterLab is a brand-new artisanal Super 8 and 16mm film scanning service based in Strasbourg, entirely operated by hand using a frame-by-frame scanner designed and built by myself.

Each frame is captured on my custom-built scanner using a monochrome Sony IMX183 sensor (no Bayer filter), 20 MP / 5472 × 3648 px, and saved as a .TIFF file. Colour can be captured in either 8-bit or 16-bit, using a trichromatic process in which each RGB colour channel is photographed separately.

The stabilized video export is delivered in UHD ProRes HQ. It is also possible to receive every individual scanned frame, approximately 3,600 files per reel, so allow around 100 GB of storage.
